2013 Police vs. Fire Game to Take Place Prior to Allen Americans vs. Missouri Mavericks

The fourth annual Allen Police vs. Fire hockey game will take place on Saturday, March 2, 2013, it was announced today by the Allen Americans Hockey Club. The game, which is made up of City of Allen police and fire department employees, will take place at 5 p.m., prior to the Allen Americans game that evening vs. the Missouri Mavericks at Allen Event Center. The Police vs. Fire game raises money for the Public Safety Recovery Fund and the Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run.

“This will be an exciting game to watch,” said Allen Police Chief Brian Harvey. “Both the Police and Fire teams have developed some great players. We thank the Allen Americans Hockey Club for their continued support in this important fundraising event to help injured public safety personnel and Special Olympics.”

Added Allen Fire Chief Bill Hawley, “The 4th Annual Fire vs. Police Hockey game will be a fun and exciting event where your Allen public safety professionals raise money for two worthy causes: Injured Allen Police Officers/Firefighters and the Special Olympics. Thanks to the support of the Allen Americans Hockey Club, this event has grown significantly each year and has become a ‘can’t miss’ event in Allen. We expect to see another record crowd on March 2.”

Allen Americans ownership & management have pledged their support to participate in the game, either on the bench or playing on the teams, including head coach Steve Martinson, associate coach Richard Matvichuk, Craig Ludwig and Steve Duchesne. Ed Belfour and Mike Modano have also expressed interest in possible participation.

“Our Allen Police and Firemen are second-to-none and do a fantastic job for our city, said Allen Mayor Stephen Terrell. This is a great event that earns much-needed funds for the worthwhile causes of taking care of our injured public safety professionals and Special Olympics. Our Police and Fire employees have a lot of fun with it every year and we are looking forward to another great game. We’d like to thank the Allen Americans for their continued support.”
